The beaches of Miami Beach are expected to remain closed at least until the beginning of next month. In some brighter news, however, the city did announce that over 750 businesses in the barrier island will be allowed to resume business come next week. The news closely followed Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s recent announcement regarding his plans to spearhead economy sector re-activation and the upcoming re-opening of restaurants.
With coronavirus still an ongoing problem, however, businesses will be required to adhere to public health guidelines, much like the restaurants. For example, occupancy numbers will be cut down and certain businesses such as beauty salons will be allowed to operate by appointments only with at least fifteen minutes between them. Furthermore, employees will be required to wear protective gear such as masks and gloves and all work stations must have at least six feet of distance between them.
Speaking of Miami Beach restaurants, the city may decide to close certain streets to allow restaurants to provide outdoor seating, such as Washington Avenue and Ocean Drive, for example. Again, tables will need to be six feet apart and parties will be limited to a maximum of ten people.
